A Prepay Energy Solution
Pay when you want, how you want, and the amount you want with Lake Region Electric Cooperative’s new Pay-As-You-Go program. Prepay billing provides another option for members interested in monitoring and lowering their electricity consumption.
“You can think of it like putting gas in your car’s tank,” explains Nancy Buck, Consumer Credit Supervisor. “You can ‘fill up’ your prepaid account balance, which buys you electricity. As you use power, your balance will go down. Just like filling your car up with gas, you have the option to purchase small amounts every few days or ‘fill up’ the tank and not worry. When your supply runs low, you simply purchase more.”
Prepay not only allows members to be in control of their energy usage, it can also help members lower consumption by recognizing their day-to-day usage patterns. A security deposit is not required for prepay and there are no late fees.
“I am pleased that Lake Region Electric Cooperative is able to offer a new flexible method for our members to take control of their energy usage and provide for choosing their own payment schedules,” says LREC CFO Lloyd Nelson. “Our goal, in alignment with our Mission Statement, is to provide our members with safe, reliable, affordable electricity, and lead by offering innovative energy services. Prepay is another step in that direction to support our members with offerings to meet their needs.”
Beginning in October, members can sign up for prepay by either filling out this sign-up sheet or by picking up a copy in the office. Members must be signed up with SmartHub to participate in the program.
Residential members who are not on LREC’s load management, solar, or wind programs qualify to participate in prepay. The program is not recommended for those with medical needs dependent on electricity.
