When visiting the Outage Center on Lake Region Electric Cooperative’s website, members will see a button providing the option to “Report an Outage” online from the convenience of a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Here at LREC, we are always working to make communication easier for our members. If you prefer to report an outage online, rather than dialing and responding to voice prompts, this new option makes it possible to report an outage using the browser on your smartphone.
The need for an alternate notification method was first brought to LREC’s attention by a member with hearing impairments who wanted to report an outage and could not do so via telephone. “This is great,” commented LREC member Ross Reagan, upon learning that his suggestion prompted the development of this new option for outage reporting.
“Hopefully it will be a positive communication channel for all LREC users,” Reagan continued. “It certainly will be helpful for those of us with hearing challenges.”
The new “Report an Outage” button is available on the homepage and at LREC’s Outage Center page. Clicking the button will send you to MyMeter where you will be asked to provide the phone number associated with your account. You can then select the service address that is without power. After making a selection, choose a description that best describes your situation. The final step offers you the option to provide a phone number you can be reached at if there are any further questions.
