LREC has received the following information from Great River Energy (GRE), our generation and transmition cooperative pertaining to potential load control for this weekend (Feb. 6-7) and the beginning of next week (Feb. 8-10). If you participate in our dual-fuel or C&I inturruptable service load managmeent programs, please ensure your backup equipment is opertational. Bitter cold temperatures are anticipated throughout the upper Midwest, with a temperature transition occurring overnight Saturday to Sunday morning. Extremely cold morning temperatures and associated wind chills will be experienced throughout Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday morning. While GRE is currently planning to dispatch load control on Monday, February 8 and may dispatch load management in response to potential emergency operating procedures throughout the duration of the extreme conditions.
- There is a potential for full load control, including C&I Interruptible Service during the cold snap.
- GRE will endeavor to provide at least 1 hour of notice in advance of a control in response to emergency procedures; however, we will attempt to provide as much advance notice as possible.
- Load management resources may need to be dispatched multiple times throughout the cold snap, decisions will be dictated by market conditions.
- Dual Fuel may be needed to support grid emergencies at any hour of the 24-hour day, including overnight and early morning hours.
- Dual Fuel may be curtailed up to 12 hours during any hour of the day.
